PLASMATRON: The MICROWAVE PLASMA TORCH
MICROWAVE PLASMA TORCH (PLASMOTRON) is a device designed to generate plasma and supply a continuous plasma jet into a plasma chemical reactor. It consists of a microwave generator, a system of waveguides, a resonator, and a nozzle which are structurally united into a common technological unit. The allowed frequency of 915 MHz (for some cases 2.45 GHz) is applied to generate plasma. It should be added that plasma is an intense sorbent for microwave radiation and the efficiency of conversion of microwave energy into plasma is 98 – 99%. Plasmatron and waveguide connections are made of high-quality stainless steel. The minimum service life of the plasmatron material is 20 years. The only replaceable element of this technological unit is the magnetron lamp, the technical certificate service life is 8000 – 10000 hours.
